Day by day

Day 1, 27 December, Arrival: A ZayVoyage by SARI representative meets you at Kotoka International Airport, takes you to your hotel, helps you check in and talks you through your itinerary. Overnight: Accra.

Day 2, 28 December, Aburi and AfroFuture Festival, Night 1: Drive to Aburi in the Eastern Region. Tour the Aburi Botanical Gardens, with trees planted by African heads of state and global leaders. Visit the Tetteh Quarshie Cocoa Farm, the first cocoa farm in Ghana, taste fresh cocoa and buy chocolate and locally made black soap. In the evening, enjoy the first night of the AfroFuture Festival, or choose another activity. Overnight: Accra.

Day 3, 29 December, Chocolate Making and AfroFuture Festival, Night 2: Make your own chocolate bars in Accra and take them home. In the evening, join the second night of the festival. Overnight: Accra.

Day 4, 30 December, Social Impact Activity and Beach Relaxation: Take part in a social impact activity in Accra or a nearby community, through talks, donations or community development. Choose your initiative, or we pre design one for you. Spend the rest of the day on the beach with traditional drumming and a cultural dance lesson. Overnight: Accra.

Day 5, 31 December, Accra City Tour and New Year’s Eve Party: After a late morning pickup, visit the W.E.B. Du Bois Memorial Centre, the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, the Arts and Crafts Market and Independence Square (Black Star Square). In the evening, ring in the new year at a New Year’s Eve party in Accra. Overnight: Accra.

Day 6, 1 January, Sip and Painting: Start the new year with a creative session in Accra. Try pottery making and paint ready made ceramic pieces to take home. Overnight: Accra.

Day 7, 2 January, Kakum National Park and Cape Coast Castle: Drive to Cape Coast. Visit Kakum National Park, with a 20 minute hike to the canopy walkway, a 350 metre suspension bridge 11 to 40 metres above the ground. Then Cape Coast Castle, the youngest of Ghana’s three slave castles, where the diaspora is welcomed home through the door of no return. Drive back to Accra. Overnight: Accra.

Day 8, 3 January, Departure: Time for last minute shopping and packing before your guide takes you to Kotoka International Airport for your departure.

AfroFuture Festival: dates, venue and lineup are set by the organizers and can change from year to year. We plan your festival nights for 28 and 29 December. If the dates change, we will rearrange your itinerary so you do not miss the festival. Tickets are bought separately and are not part of the tour price. If you prefer a different night out, you can choose another activity.
