Day by day

Day 1, Accra, Arrival: A ZayVoyage by SARI representative meets you at Kotoka International Airport, takes you to your hotel, helps you check in and talks you through your itinerary. Overnight: Accra.

Day 2, Aburi, Aburi Botanical Gardens, Tetteh Quarshie Cocoa Farm and Wellness Activity: After breakfast, drive an hour to Aburi in the Eastern Region. Tour the Aburi Botanical Gardens, with trees planted by African heads of state and global leaders. Visit the Tetteh Quarshie Cocoa Farm, the first cocoa farm in Ghana, in Akuapem Mampong, follow cocoa from sowing to drying, taste fresh cocoa and buy chocolate and locally made black soap. Enjoy lunch at Peduase Lodge, with a swim in its exotic pool or a massage and spa session. Overnight: Accra.

Day 3, Cape Coast, Kakum National Park and Cape Coast Castle: Drive from Accra to Cape Coast. Visit Kakum National Park, with a 20 minute hike to the canopy walkway, a 350 metre suspension bridge 11 to 40 metres above the ground. Then Cape Coast Castle, the youngest of Ghana’s three slave castles and the most significant in the history of slavery, where the diaspora is welcomed home through the door of no return. Drive back to Accra. Overnight: Accra.

Day 4, Akosombo, Cedi Beads Factory, Boat Ride on Lake Volta and Wellness Activity: After breakfast, drive from Accra to Akosombo. Stop at the Cedi Beads Factory in Akosombo, where traditional beads are made from glass bottles. Then relax on a boat ride on Lake Volta, passing islands and the highlands around the lake. Drive back to Accra after lunch in Akosombo. Overnight: Accra.

Day 5, Eastern Region, Boti Falls Tour or Shai Hills Reserve Tour: After breakfast, drive to the Eastern Region for the Boti Falls tour. Hike to the Umbrella Rock, past the African Map Rock, the footprint rock and other interestingly shaped rocks, to the Three-Headed Palm Tree and the fertility rock. Walk down 250 steps to the twin Boti Waterfall, considered male and female by the locals. In the dry season, when the falls dry up, visit the Shai Hills Reserve instead, with a hike over rocks and views of antelopes, baboons, monkeys and other wildlife. After lunch, take part in social impact activities in Accra or a nearby community, through talks, donations and community development initiatives. Day 6, Accra, City Tour: After a late morning pickup, visit the W.E.B. DuBois Memorial Centre, home of the Father of Pan Africanism, with his mausoleum. Then the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, where Ghana’s independence was declared, with its museum and mausoleum. Shop for dresses, shirts, carvings, paintings, kente and Northern smock fabrics at the Arts and Crafts Market, and finish at Independence Square (Black Star Square), built in 1961. Overnight: Accra.

Day 7, Accra, Departure: Time for last minute shopping and packing before your guide takes you to Kotoka International Airport for your final departure.
