Day by day

Day 1, Arrival: A ZayVoyage by SARI representative meets you at Murtala Mohammed International Airport, takes you to your hotel, helps you check in and talks you through your itinerary. Overnight: Lagos.

Day 2, Lagos City Tour (1 hr 30 min drive from the hotel): Badagry tour: the Old Slave Market, the Sariki Abbas compound (slave barracoons), the Black Heritage Museum and Mobee Slave Relic Museum, and Gberefu Beach, the slave embarkation “point of no return”. Overnight: Lagos.

Day 3, Lagos to Calabar: Fly from Murtala Mohammed International Airport to Margaret Ekpo International Airport, Calabar, where your guide helps you check in at the hotel. Food tasting experience. Visit the Ndidem of the Quas Palace Grounds, the heart of Efik heritage, then Duke Town Church, one of Nigeria’s oldest, built by Scottish missionaries in the 19th century, and Mary Slessor Avenue. End at the Native Delicacies Restaurant to try local Nigerian dishes. Overnight: Calabar.

Day 4, Calabar City Tour: Visit the National Museum in the Old Residency Building (built 1959), with exhibits on the slave trade, palm oil trade and colonialism. Continue to the Slave History Museum at Marina Beach, with its slave markets, chains and the story of abolition. Lunch at the Marina Resort. Overnight: Calabar.

Day 5, Cross River National Park, Kampa: A full day in one of Africa’s oldest rainforests. Hike the forest trails, watch some of its 500 bird species, and take a canopy walk with aerial views of the rainforest. The park is home to rare primates, including chimpanzees, drills and Cross River gorillas. Overnight: Calabar.

Day 6, Kampa Tour and Kwa Falls: Take a walking tour of Kampa town, meet the locals and learn their culture. Then enjoy Kwa Falls in the Oban division of Cross River National Park, with its deep pool, 234 steps and the nearby Kwa River sand beach. Return to your hotel. Overnight: Calabar.

Day 7, Calabar to Lagos: Fly from Margaret Ekpo International Airport to Lagos (1 hr 10 mins). Relax at the hotel with a spa and massage session. End the day at Ruffus and Bees at the Twin Water Center. Overnight: Lagos.

Day 8, Lagos City Tour: Visit the Lekki Conservation Centre, with its swamp boardwalk, wildlife and Africa’s longest canopy walkway (crossing is optional). Continue to the Nike Arts Gallery, a five storey gallery with over 8,000 artworks. Paint at The Metaphor. End the day at the Hakuna Matata Theme Park. Overnight: Lagos.

Day 9, Experience Lagos: A full day of experiences and wellness. Start with an adventure at Skate City, Lekki. Then choose pottery at the Ceracerni Art Hub, Lekki, or candle making at Lohn Lagos, Victoria Island, and take your artwork home. End the day at the Breeze Beach Club. Overnight: Lagos.

Day 10, Departure: Time for last minute shopping and packing before your guide takes you to Murtala Mohammed International Airport for your final departure.
